What toys do children like to play with?

Children nowadays are truly blessed. Step into any household with kids, and you’ll find a mountain of toys piled up everywhere. I don’t think there’s a child out there who doesn’t love toys.

Speaking of my son’s toys, they mainly consist of various kinds of cars 🚘. He has close to a hundred cars of different sizes, with every style covered. He never gets tired of playing with them, even wanting to hold one when he sleeps. In the morning, upon opening his eyes, he reaches for a car to either continue sleeping with or play with in bed.

What toys do children like to play with?

Especially excavator toys. I’ve looked up some information on why excavators are so appealing:

❶ Satisfy the need for sensory stimulation.
Excavator toys are characterized by loud sounds, large sizes, and mobility, providing rich sensory experiences. The “rumbling” sounds and mechanical movements produced when children operate them offer pleasurable sensory stimulation.

❷ Align with the psychological characteristics of the “intense interest period”.
Children aged 2-4 generally go through an “intense interest period” and show a strong interest in motor vehicle toys. As a representative of construction machinery, excavators meet children’s desire to explore power and a sense of control, especially for boys.

❸ Foster creativity and a spirit of exploration.
The transformable functions of excavator toys stimulate children’s creativity. They can be disassembled, reassembled, and used to simulate real construction scenes, satisfying children’s curiosity about mechanical principles.

❹ Fulfill the desire for control and a sense of achievement.
By operating excavator toys to simulate driving actions, children perceive a sense of achievement, which helps cultivate self-confidence and a sense of responsibility.

Looking at it this way, it also reflects a boy’s true nature [grinning face emoji]. I used to think it was just a peculiar habit. Once, he tried to disassemble it with the provided screwdriver but got angry when he couldn’t assemble it back. It turns out this is a unique exploratory trait in boys.
